What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, which keeps information on your device, and pixels, which are tiny images used to measure activity. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of these.
Cookies the KitFuse tool needs
None. The photo metadata remover works without cookies, and your photos are never uploaded.
To remember your preferences, KitFuse stores three small values in your browser's storage. They never leave your device.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
kitfuse-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme | Preference, local storage | Until you clear site data |
kitfuse-consent | Remembers your cookie consent choice and the date you made it | Strictly necessary, local storage | Until you clear site data or change your choice |
kitfuse-intro | Remembers that the welcome animation has already played, so it shows only once per visit | Preference, session storage | Until you close the tab |
Advertising cookies from Google AdSense
KitFuse is funded by ads served through Google AdSense. With your consent, Google and its partners may set cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, detect fraud and, where allowed, personalize ads based on your interests. Google's advertising cookies include the DoubleClick cookie set on the doubleclick.net domain.
Examples of cookies Google may use for advertising are listed below. Google may change the names and lifetimes of its cookies, so for the current list see Google's page on cookies used in advertising.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__gads, __gpi | Google, on this site's domain | Ad delivery, frequency capping and measurement | Up to 13 months |
__eoi | Google, on this site's domain | Ad security and fraud prevention | Up to 6 months |
IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Advertising, including personalized ads (the DoubleClick cookie) | Up to 13 months |
test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies | About 15 minutes |
These cookies are only used for advertising if you have given consent, or where consent is not legally required and you haven't opted out. Learn more in Google's explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services.
How consent works on KitFuse
We use Google Consent Mode. Before any ad code loads, our page tells Google what you've agreed to.
- Accept all: Google and its partners may use cookies for ads, including personalized ads.
- Reject non-essential: Google is told not to store advertising cookies. Ads may still appear, but they are non-personalized and use limited data, for example to prevent fraud.
- No choice yet: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, advertising cookies stay off until you accept. Elsewhere, ads may use cookies until you reject them. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection.
How to change your choice or opt out
- Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to reopen the consent banner.
- Opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings.
- Opt out of personalized ads from participating companies at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies won't affect the KitFuse tool, but some websites may not work as expected.
