The short version
- Your photos, videos and PDFs are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
- We don't require accounts and we don't run our own analytics or tracking.
- We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, based on the choice you make in our consent banner.
- You can change your cookie choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer, and opt out of personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings.
1. Who we are
This policy applies to the KitFuse website at https://kitfuse.site and all its language versions ("KitFuse", "we", "us"). KitFuse offers free tools that remove metadata from files and convert, compress, resize and combine photos, videos and PDFs. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@kitfuse.site.
2. Your files: we never collect them
Every KitFuse tool runs entirely inside your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your device and KitFuse's JavaScript (and, for some formats, WebAssembly code served from our own website) processes it in your device's memory. The result is handed back to you as a local download. Your files, their names and their contents are not uploaded, transmitted, stored or logged by KitFuse at any point. When you close or reload the page, the data held in memory is discarded by your browser.
The tool displays a link to OpenStreetMap when a photo contains GPS coordinates. If you choose to click it, the coordinates are sent to openstreetmap.org in the web address so the map can be displayed. Nothing is sent unless you click.
3. Information we do handle
Information stored on your device
KitFuse stores two small preferences in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice (kitfuse-theme) and your cookie consent choice (kitfuse-consent). These stay on your device, are not sent to us, and can be removed by clearing your browser's site data.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. These logs do not contain your photos, which are never sent to the server.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to reply and to improve KitFuse, and we don't add you to any mailing list.
4. Advertising and Google AdSense
KitFuse is free because it is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC, to display ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on KitFuse through Google's platform. They may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. Google provides a list of its certified ad technology providers.
For more information about how Google uses data from websites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and Google's page on how Google uses cookies in advertising.
Ad providers never receive your photos. KitFuse's code does not pass your photos, file names or metadata to any advertising service.
5. Cookies and your consent
We use Google Consent Mode to respect your choice. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept advertising cookies.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising cookies are off until you accept them.
- If you choose Reject non-essential, Google is told not to use cookies for advertising, and any ads shown are non-personalized and use limited data.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal and you haven't made a choice, we treat it as a request to opt out.
- You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Full details, including the types of cookies that may be set, are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: your consent for advertising cookies and personalized ads; our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website for server logs; and our legitimate interest in responding to you when you contact us by email.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because KitFuse does not collect your photos or run accounts, the only personal information we usually hold is the content of emails you send us.
California residents: under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, which can include cookies used for personalized advertising. You can opt out by choosing Reject non-essential in our cookie banner, by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, or through Google's Ads Settings. We do not sell personal information for money.
To make a request, email hello@kitfuse.site. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
KitFuse is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
Photos are never retained because they are never received. Preferences in local storage remain on your device until you clear them. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
10. International data transfers
Google and other advertising partners may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Google describes the safeguards it uses in its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
11. Security
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The strongest protection for your photos is the design of the tool itself: because they never leave your device, they can't be exposed in a data breach on our side.
12. Links to other websites
Our pages link to other websites, such as Google's privacy pages and OpenStreetMap. We're not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we change ad partners or features. We'll update the effective date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
14. Contact
For questions or requests about privacy, email hello@kitfuse.site or use our contact page.
