Quick answer

To convert WebP to PNG, add your WebP files and keep PNG selected. Each image is converted immediately into a lossless PNG, and transparent areas stay transparent. Download the PNGs one at a time or together as a ZIP. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to save WebP images as PNG

  1. Add your WebP images.

Drag them onto the page or press Choose WebP images.

  2. Keep PNG selected.

There's no quality setting for PNG, because it's lossless.

  3. Download the PNG files.

Save them one by one or as a ZIP.

WebP to PNG or WebP to JPG?

Choose PNG when the image has a transparent background, sharp edges or text: logos, icons, stickers, interface screenshots and illustrations. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and preserves the alpha channel, so the result drops cleanly onto any background in Photoshop, Canva, PowerPoint or a print layout. For ordinary photos, WebP to JPG gives a much smaller file.

Why PNG files come out larger

Most WebP images on the web are lossy, so they're already compressed. A PNG stores the decoded pixels without any loss, which usually makes it several times bigger than the WebP. That's expected and it doesn't add detail that wasn't there; it simply stops further loss when you edit and save again. If size matters later, the image compressor can shrink a PNG by reducing its colors.

Compatibility

PNG opens in every image editor, office suite, design tool and operating system, including older versions of Photoshop that can't read WebP. Animated WebP files are converted from their first frame, because PNG on its own isn't animated in most apps. The PNGs contain no metadata from the originals. Wondering why sites use WebP at all? Frequently asked questions

Does WebP to PNG keep transparency?

Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are kept exactly in the PNG.

Is the conversion lossless?

The PNG is a lossless copy of the decoded WebP image. If the WebP was lossy, its earlier compression is kept as it is; converting can't remove it.

Why is my PNG bigger than the WebP?

PNG is lossless and stores every pixel, while WebP is usually lossy. A larger PNG is normal.

Can I convert WebP to PNG in bulk?

Yes, up to 100 files at once, downloaded as a ZIP.

Can I open the PNG in Photoshop, Canva or PowerPoint?

Yes. PNG is supported by every common editor and office app, including versions of Photoshop that predate WebP support, and the transparent background is preserved when you place it on a slide or design.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser.
