Quick answer

To convert WebP to JPG, add your WebP files and keep JPG selected. Each image is converted as soon as you add it, at 90 percent quality, with any transparent areas filled with white. Download the JPGs one by one or together as a ZIP. The conversion runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

How to convert WebP images to JPG

  1. Add your WebP images.

Drag them onto the page or press Choose WebP images. Up to 100 files at a time.

  2. Adjust the settings if you like.

JPG is selected at 90 percent quality. Choose a background color for transparent areas, or pick PNG to keep the transparency.

  3. Download the JPGs.

Download each image, or press Download all (ZIP) to get them all at once.

Why WebP files can be hard to open

Websites love WebP because it makes pages load faster, so when you save an image from a browser it often arrives as a .webp file. Browsers show it fine, but plenty of other software is less friendly. Photoshop only opens WebP natively from version 23.2, Windows Photo Viewer doesn't open it at all, and many print shops, online forms and office tools reject it. A JPG, on the other hand, opens almost anywhere.

JPG or PNG?

JPG is the best choice for photos: small files and universal support. It can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose, white by default. If your WebP is a logo or a sticker with a transparent background, pick PNG instead to keep it. This page also converts AVIF, HEIC and other formats to JPG, and the full image converter lets you choose any output format.

Choosing the JPG quality

WebP images from the web are usually compressed already, so converting at very high quality makes the JPG bigger without adding any detail. The default of 90 percent keeps the picture faithful at a sensible file size. If the JPG is for email or for an upload form with a size limit, lower the quality to 75 or 80 percent, or run the result through the image compressor.

Animated WebP and privacy

JPG can't animate, so animated WebP files are converted from their first frame. Everything happens in your browser with its built-in image decoder, and the images never leave your device. The new JPGs carry no metadata from the originals. Preparing images for a website instead? See PNG to WebP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a WebP file?

Any modern browser can display it. To use it in other apps, convert it to JPG here and open the JPG as usual.

Does converting WebP to JPG lose quality?

Converting always re-encodes the image, but at 90 percent quality the difference isn't visible. You can raise the quality to 100 percent if you prefer.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so those areas are filled with white or the color you pick. Choose PNG to keep the transparency.

Can I convert WebP to PNG instead?

Yes. Select PNG before or after adding your files; images that are already converted update automatically.

Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes, up to 100 in one batch, and you can download them all as a ZIP file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser converts the images on your own device.
