Quick answer
To convert PNG to JPG, add your PNG files and keep JPG selected. Each image is converted straight away at 90 percent quality, and transparent areas are filled with white or a color you choose. A PNG photo or screenshot usually becomes several times smaller. Download the JPGs one by one or as a ZIP; nothing is uploaded.
How to change PNG images to JPG
- Add your PNG files.
Drag them onto the page or press Choose PNG images. You can convert up to 100 at once.
- Check quality and background.
90 percent quality suits most images. If your PNG has a transparent background, pick the color that should replace it.
- Download the JPGs.
Each result shows its new size. Save them individually or press Download all (ZIP).
Why a PNG can be ten times bigger than a JPG
PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is ideal for logos, icons and text, but wasteful for photographs and busy screenshots, where millions of slightly different colors leave little to compress. JPG was designed for exactly those images: it discards detail the eye barely notices and keeps the file small. A full-screen screenshot saved as PNG can easily be 3 to 5 MB; the same image as a JPG at 90 percent quality is often a few hundred kilobytes and looks the same at normal viewing size.
When to keep the PNG
Convert when size matters and the image is a photo, a screenshot of a photo or a document scan. Keep PNG for logos, icons, diagrams with thin lines, pixel art and anything that needs a transparent background, because JPG can't store transparency and adds faint blur around sharp edges. If you want small files and transparency, convert PNG to WebP instead. To shrink a PNG while keeping it a PNG, the image compressor can reduce its colors.
Getting the best JPG
- Quality 85 to 92 percent keeps text in screenshots readable while still saving most of the space.
- Background color: white suits documents; choose a dark color for app screenshots with dark themes so edges blend in.
- Very large images: if a form also limits pixel size, resize afterwards with the image resizer.
Private and free
The conversion uses your browser's own JPEG encoder, so it's fast and nothing is sent to a server. Converted files carry no metadata from the originals, which also removes any hidden text chunks, such as AI prompts that some image generators store in PNG files. Going the other way? Use JPG to PNG.

Frequently asked questions
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?
Slightly, because JPG is lossy, but at 90 percent quality the difference is very hard to see in photos and screenshots. Sharp graphics and small text can show faint artefacts; keep those as PNG or raise the quality.
What happens to a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose. White is the default.
Is PNG or JPG better?
Neither is better overall. JPG is better for photos and anything that must be small; PNG is better for graphics, text and transparency.
Can I convert many PNG files at once?
Yes, up to 100 per batch, each up to 100 MB, downloaded together as a ZIP.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Your browser converts them on your device.
